A SONG originally released by the late great, Elvis Presley more than 60 years ago, is to be the new single by Caithness musician, Brandon McPhee.

There's Always Me is taken from Brandon's new album which is called Mr Country and is due to be released this month.

Brandon, who comes from Castletown, said that Elvis has been "a huge influence" on him and pointed out that he was inspired to cover the song after the recent release of the Baz Lurhmann film on the legendary American singer who died in 1977 at the age of 42.

Elvis recorded There's Always Me – written by pianist Don Robertson – in 1961 and it reached number 56 in the US Billboard singles chart.

The song – described as a powerful ballad – was also released as a single six years later and was recorded along with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in 2015.

Brandon's latest single follows the success of his self-penned song Let's Start Again which came out on Pan Records earlier this year.

He first became interested in music at the age of 10 when he took up the three-row button key accordion. The vocals came about the age of 16 and he now sings as well as plays the accordion.

Brandon is about to go on tour with two shows in Ireland later this month and has bookings already lined up for Christmas with shows in the Royal British Legion in Thurso on Monday, December 5 and in the Pulteneytown Parish Church in Wick the following night.

In addition, he will be playing in Perth, Isle of Skye, Dingwall, Elgin and Oldmeldrum in Aberdeenshire.

Brandon is also booked for theatre tours next February at venues throughout Scotland, including Eden Court in Inverness, Aberdeen, Stirling, Stranraer and Langholm in Dumfries and Galloway.

The talented entertainer has played before royalty, made television appearances in Britain, Ireland and the USA and is an established recording artiste.

He has toured all over the UK and Ireland with The Brandon McPhee Band which features highly regarded and successful musicians who have many years of experience in the industry.

His music is played in various parts of the globe, including Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the USA.
