Eighty-three positive tests for Covid in Caithness over latest seven-day period





There were 83 positive tests for Covid-19 in Caithness during the latest seven-day period recorded by Public Health Scotland.

With 41 cases in Sutherland, it meant the total for the two counties came to 124.

The neighbourhoods with the highest number of cases in Caithness were Wick South, with 21, and Wick North, with 19.

Wick South had a seven-day rate per 100,000 population of 613.5, the second highest in the region.

The figures were based on people tested from October 23-29.

Public Health Scotland's interactive dashboard has a map giving the number of positive cases in individual neighbourhoods, seven of which are in Caithness.

It shows that in the most recent seven-day spell there were 17 positive cases in Caithness North West, eight in Thurso West, seven in Caithness South, six in Thurso East and five in Caithness North East.

There were 20 cases in the Sutherland South neighbourhood, 11 in Sutherland East and 10 in Sutherland North and West.

Public Health Scotland reported 705 positive cases across the Highland local authority area during the seven-day period, with a seven-day rate per 100,000 population of 299.5.
