DUNBEATH and District Day Care Centre recently received a cheque for £8000 from the Caithness Landward discretionary budget to assist with the costs of upgrading its kitchen.

The work will bring the kitchen up to current food and hygiene standards and will allow the facililty to continue to provide its meal service to the community.

During periods of bad weather earlier in the year, which resulted in the closure of the snow gates on the A9, the centre was quickly opened up to provide food and shelter for stranded travellers.

The cheque was presented to two of the centres directors, chairman John Gunn and treasurer Danny Dickson, by the four Landward Caithness members – Willie Mackay, Robert Coghill, David Flear and David Bremner.
