The minor injuries unit/urgent care centre at Thurso’s Dunbar Hospital will be covered by the emergency department at Caithness General Hospital at set times this weekend.

NHS Highland says that “owing to unforeseen circumstances” cover will be provided at the Wick hospital from 7pm on Friday to 7am Saturday, and on Sunday from 7pm until 7am on Monday.

A statement said: “There is no change to accessing emergency services. People should dial 999 if they experience a medical emergency and the Scottish Ambulance Service will respond as appropriate.

“Local residents are advised that if it is not an emergency they should contact NHS24 for advice by calling 111 and, if required, the call will be routed to the closest centre for the out-of-hours doctor.”
