Dounreay Women’s Network and WiN Scotland Highland regional team received the Regional Heroes of the Year award.

Employees from Dounreay have been honoured at a national awards ceremony in London.

The Women in Nuclear (WiN) Annual Awards recognise those who work to promote gender balance and diversity across the nuclear sector.

Dounreay Women’s Network and WiN Scotland Highland regional team won the Regional Heroes of the Year award, for groups that work together to make a difference.

Dounreay’s newly appointed chair of the Women’s Network, Lora Jane Kelly, said: “Congratulations to all the winners and everyone who was nominated for an award. It is so important to recognise those who go the extra mile to improve equality, diversity and inclusion.

“I am delighted that our work to promote gender balance in the industry has been recognised in this way and will continue to work with our dedicated team to support their hard work and commitment to make a difference.”

Fiona Bruce, WiN Scotland Highland regional team lead, said: “The team is really proud to be taking the award home to the Highlands. It is great recognition for all the efforts and passion demonstrated by our members.

"As a branch we will continue to work towards making our industry more inclusive and meeting the targets set out in the nuclear sector deal."

The awards were held during the annual WiN conference in Westminster which this year focused on inclusion and encouraging people to have a voice.
