Day two of Castletown incident as police negotiate with man at property

The incident that has drawn a huge police presence to Castletown is still ongoing, said a Police Scotland spokesperson this morning.

Diversions have been set up in the village so that vehicles can bypass the western side of Main Street where a house is under surveillance by police who are negotiating with a person inside. Alternative routes are in place to connect parts of the A836 affected.

This morning, Inspector Kay Macrae said: "Around 12.25pm on Monday, 4 November, 2024, we were called after concern was raised for a man within a house on Coronation Place, Castletown.

“Officers and negotiators are in attendance."

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said yesterday: “We received a call at 2.19pm to attend an incident in Castletown.

“We dispatched one ambulance to the scene.”
