A Scottish crofting campaign has been launched in a bid to raise awareness of the important role that crofters play in their local community.

The #ProudToBeACrofter campaign, an initiative launched by the Crofting commission on July 18th, will seek to highlight the important role that crofters play across North of Scotland.

The scheme will shine a spotlight on the hard work of individual crofters via regular social media updates and online reminders to those who participate.

In a further effort to boost awareness of crofting duties, the Crofting Commission will also participate in a variety of agricultural shows across the summer months, starting with the Sutherland Agricultural Show on July 20th.

Crofters from Caithness will be given the opportunity to talk with crofting experts, and learn more about about the work and lifestyle that crofting entails. Visitors to the show will also receive a car sticker, to further show their support to local agricultural workers.

Chief Executive of the Crofting Commission, Gary Campbell offered his support: “We believe that by promoting a clear understanding of crofting duties and celebrating those who embrace them, we can foster a stronger, more sustainable crofting sector,

The Crofting Commission says it: “looks forward to meeting proud crofters at agricultural shows across Scotland this summer and celebrating their dedication to sustainable land use and community well-being.”
