Crash involving car and motorbike on A836 between Castletown and Thurso

One person was taken to hospital after a crash between a car and a motorbike near Castletown on Tuesday afternoon.

The incident happened on the A836 between the village and Thurso at around 3.10pm.

Police, fire and ambulance services were at the scene and it is understood the road has been closed.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 3.13pm on Tuesday to reports of a collision involving a car and a motorbike on the A836 between Castletown and Thurso.

“Operations control immediately mobilised an appliance to the location. One casualty was taken to hospital by the Scottish Ambulance Service.

“Crews left the scene after ensuring the area was made safe.”

A spokesperson for Police Scotland confirmed: "Around 3.20pm on Tuesday, officers were called to a report of a two-vehicle crash on the A836 near Castletown. Emergency services are in attendance and the road is currently closed."
