Covid statistics show 319 new cases in Caithness

There were 319 new Covid-19 cases in Caithness in the latest seven-day period recorded by Public Health Scotland.

Among the county's seven neighbourhoods, Wick North had the highest number of positive tests with 96 based on people tested for the virus between February 20 and 26.

It meant Wick North had a seven-day rate per 100,000 population of 3029.3 – the highest rate in the Highland Council area.

There were 55 positive tests in Caithness North East, 48 in Wick South, 44 in Caithness North West, 30 in Thurso West, 26 in Caithness South and 20 in Thurso East.

There were 67 positive tests in the Sutherland South neighbourhood, 20 in Sutherland East and 11 in Sutherland North and West.

Positive cases across the Highland local authority area from February 20-26 totalled 2710, with a seven-day positive rate per 100,000 population of 1151.1 for the region as a whole.

Public Health Scotland's interactive dashboard has a map giving the number of cases in individual neighbourhoods throughout Scotland. Most neighbourhoods have between 2500 and 6000 residents.
