Confirmed Covid-19 cases in north increase by five to 168

The latest figures take the total number of known cases of coronavirus in the NHS Highland area to 168.

A further 291 people have tested positive across the whole of Scotland since yesterday, taking the national total to 6358.

And 615 people have died across the country since the outbreak began, up from 575 announced yesterday.

In the NHS Highland area, the number of people being treated in hospital with suspected or confirmed Covid-19 decreased slightly, down from 62 to 58.

There was also a fall in the number of people being treated in intensive care – down from six to four.

A total of 196 people were in intensive care across Scotland overnight, down 15 on the night before.

NHS Grampian recorded another 22 positive tests, for an overall tally of 335. Its hospitals were also treating 86 people in hospital for the disease, with 13 receiving treatment in intensive care.
