Charity seeks new volunteer mentors at Wick High School

MCR Pathways, a national award-winning mentoring charity, is appealing for volunteer mentors to inspire young people in Wick.

At its core, MCR Pathways is based on a simple premise: mentors dedicate just 50 minutes each week to listen, build a trusting relationship and help a young person realise their potential by empowering them with confidence and self-belief.

Volunteers not only experience the satisfaction of helping their mentee discover their talents but also have the opportunity to forge a bond that can last a lifetime.

Tina Hamilton, community engagement officer for the north at MCR Pathways, said: “Our mentoring programme is well established and has proven to be a positive, and transformational experience for both young people and their mentors, who come from all walks of life.

“We would be delighted to hear from any local people who might be able to give just one hour per week. We particularly urge male mentors to step forward, as their involvement fosters diverse and inclusive support networks that are crucial for our young learners' growth and success.”

Tina said she would also love to hear from local employers who would like to support staff to get involved. Mentors and their employers gain significantly from the experience for relatively little time commitment, she adds.
