Staff at a retail store in Thurso were delighted that their customers helped them raise over £250 for disadvantaged children this Christmas.

The Caithness FM Toy Appeal has been supporting kids in Caithness longer than the radio station has been on air and, after a local fundraising effort by The Original Factory Shop (TOFS) in Thurso, it was given the princely sum of £251.48 at a handover event in the High Street shop.

A spokesperson for TOFS said: "We're really excited that we and our customers have helped to raise £251.48 for the Caithness FM Toy Appeal, our community chosen charity. What they do is invaluable for the local area and we'd like to think that this effort will go some small way to supporting their work in the community.

"As a company, this year we have decided to support local charities in our towns, and in March we asked our customers through Facebook which charity they would like us to support."

The Caithness FM Toy Appeal supports local tots to teens who are struggling at Christmas and accepts contributions until Monday, December 20.

Caithness FM can be contacted on Facebook, by email at office@caithnessfm.co.uk or by calling Jackie on 07889 017987.
