A football fan from Castletown is hosting a charity auction on Saturday with many items collected from a gruelling road trip around Scottish football stadiums that he recently completed.

Dave Paterson visited 42 Scottish Professional Football League grounds within seven days to raise funds for Parkinson’s UK.

Ex-military man Dave (59), who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s eight years ago, has taken on long-distance trips before – such as John O’Groats to Land's End and a tour of all 47 lifeboat stations in Ireland.

He will celebrate his 60th birthday with a party on Saturday (April 30) at Thurso Royal British Legion and an auction will be held in aid of Parkinson’s UK. Dave, a keen Celtic supporter, decided to combine his passion for football with his love of travelling in his first fundraiser for the national charity which is still open for donations online at: gofund.me/749d4a19

Together with his friend Davy Brown, also an army veteran, and his wife Ali the trio covered more than 1200 miles in a vintage truck. Dave said: "We left Castletown on the morning of Saturday 2nd April. The first stop was Ross County FC and over the next six days we visited all 42 Scottish Senior Football Clubs and finished up at Hampden Park late afternoon Thursday 7th April. After a good rest in Paisley on Thursday night we then had Friday's 300-mile journey home making a total of 1575 miles for the week.

"Tuesday was a rest day, with some well-earned retail therapy for Ali Brown. On the other days we visited between 6 and 11 clubs per day, depending on geography."

The army veteran added: "Now we are finishing the job and have organised an auction night this Saturday, 30th April, at Thurso Royal British Legion. I have attached the list of items. We have a signed Partick Thistle football not yet added to the list."

Dave's "End of The Road Auction Night" is at 7pm and advance bids can be sent him via email to davepat22020@outlook.com before 6pm on April 30.
