Canisbay Show back this Saturday after five-year break
The Canisbay Show will be taking place on Saturday (June 29), after a five-year break, thanks to a small but enthusiastic team beavering away.
The event will start off with the crowning of the new queen at 12.30pm in the show field to rear of Canisbay Hall.
Gordie Begg sent out his ‘chairman’s welcome’ for the 31st Canisbay Show and said he hopes for fine weather on the day.
“This is the first time we’ve had the show since pre-Covid times, who would have guessed back in 2019 as we packed the tents and equipment away it would be five years before we got going again,” he said.
“Thanks to a small but enthusiastic team we’ve been able to get it organised and with the help of our committee members and local volunteers, the show is back on the calendar.”
He went to thank the show’s sponsors for their generosity and said that this year it will feature the biggest number of stallholders with a variety of locally produced goods, foods, spirits and crafts.
“In the main ring, we have some new attractions, along with the old favourites. I’m sure there will be something there for everyone young or old to keep you entertained, or get involved and have a go.”
“I’m very lucky to have a great secretary in Leonie [Ham] to ensure that all the boxes get ticked, keep me on my toes and generally run everything (semi-quietly) from behind the scenes.”

“Hope we all have a fun, successful, sunny show day!” he added.
