Caithness West Community Council is to get back up and running again following an appeal for members – but the Tannach and District one has failed to garner enough support.

Highland Council held a new round of community council membership applications this month after a number failed to establish in last year's election through lack of support.

Nominations closed on Wednesday, and it emerged that the Tannach group was among six in the Highlands that failed to attract half the required maximum membership needed to see them re-establish.

The reverse is true at Caithness West and as a result the community council there will officially form at noon on Friday (February 28).
