Caithness members of Highland Council are supporting the community response to the Covid-19 pandemic with a further series of funding awards worth more than £2900, divided among six local groups.

The ward discretionary funding decisions for June included grant aid of £500 for Castletown Community Council from the ward two councillors (Thurso and Northwest Caithness), while the ward three members (Wick and East Caithness) approved £500 for Caithness Community Connections, £418.78 for Sinclair's Bay Community Council and £500 for Thrumster Community Development Association – all for Covid-19 community support in their areas.

The two wards combined agreed £500 each to Home-Start and Caithness Mental Health Support Group, again as part of the Covid-19 community response.

The two wards also approved £2000 for Caithness Chamber of Commerce to help with the running of the Caithness Transport Forum.

Ward two members agreed to give £350 to Thurso United junior football club towards online Scottish Football Association coaching classes.
