Caithness pupils spent last week preparing for the Red Nose Day fundraiser, with enterprising children at both Castletown and Miller Academy primaries playing an active role.

At Castletown, primary five and six pupils sold red noses, held a bring and buy sale and helped other pupils create tasty iced biscuits to eat, which in all raised a total of £500.

A Red Nose Island Treasure Hunt Map event was won by Erica in primary two.

The most popular activity, however, was a bean bag challenge using a giant dartboard which the children drew out using lots of different maths skills.

The highest score was 135, achieved by Toby and Euan, both in primary five.

At Miller Academy, pupils and staff wore red clothes, bought red noses and took part in various related activities, such as a design your own red noses competition.

Head teacher Jacqui Budge said she was proud of everyone involved.

“Children, families and staff raised the fantastic sum of £533.”
