Caithness glass artist Ian Pearson has launched a new website after the coronavirus pandemic led him to rethink his approach to promoting his work.
Ian, who has run Thurso-based business Glass Creations for 30 years, felt that having a high-profile digital presence was more important than ever after Covid-19 restrictions meant there were minimal opportunities to sell art at physical locations.
He decided to invest in a new website, designed by Caithness Creative Design, to replace the previous model.
The site – https://glasscreationsirp.co.uk – is designed to celebrate three decades of trading for Glass Creations and will also act as a tribute to Ian’s late wife Maureen, with whom he started the business in 1990.
Ian explained: "A bonus of having such a website is that it captures my work as an artist which, after my day, will be archived and held permanently by the Corning Museum of Glass in USA."
The museum holds portfolios of every glass artist in the world and Ian visited it last year to start his portfolio in hard-copy format.
"I was keen to keep the technical creation of the website local and was very pleased that a fledgling company took on the challenge to interpret my vision into a virtual reality," he said.
“I was aware of this business as it did such an excellent job on the website and online exhibition for the Society of Caithness Artists this year."
Ian is chairman of the society, which is planning another online exhibition this December entitled Reaching Out.
