Dingwall and Highland Marts Ltd, on April 27, sold 813 store cattle and 78 OTM cattle.

Bullocks (389) averaged 244.7p per kg and sold to 303.7p per kg for a pen of 382kg Charolais crosses from Forsie, Thurso and £1590 gross for a 610kg Limousin cross from Hilton Farm, Tain.

Heifers (418) averaged 230.7p per kg and sold to 284.3p per kg for a pen of 415kg Limousin crosses from Ardgayhill, Ardgay and £1310 gross for a 490kg Limousin cross from Hilton Farm, Tain.

Young Bulls (6) sold to 227.1p per kg and sold to £750 gross for a 395kg Simmental cross from Midburn, Lochussie.

“A real mixed show of cattle forward saw the heavier end best bred cattle sharper than the last sale, however there was plenty of plainer sorts which hindered the sale average. Grazing stirks met a more hesitant enquiry than the last sale but still sold at satisfactory returns.”
