Caithness bikers play poker for charity on special run

The Caithness Bikers’ group had its first annual poker run on Sunday (November 3) and raised £300 for charity.

The motorcycle enthusiasts established the group in 2019 and organised the poker run to start at 10am from Forse of Nature near Latheron.

Richard Clarke, one of the founding members of Caithness Bikers said: “All proceeds are being donated to RDA in Halkirk and Highland Wildlife Rescue in Brora

“A poker run is an organized event in which participants, usually using motorcycles, must visit five checkpoints, drawing a playing card at each one.

“The object is to have the best poker hand at the end of the run. Having the best hand and winning is purely a matter of chance. The event has no time limit.

“We had cracking weather and 16 bikers came out to have a game of poker, by riding around the county to five different locations making their poker hand – £100 for best hand and £50 for worst and money going to charity.”

A total of £300 was raised on the day. Richard sent out a big thank you to everyone who was involved and a special thanks to the sponsor Harbour Taxis which donated the prize money.
