Business as usual with Caithness bus company despite licence being revoked
A Caithness bus company says it is business as normal despite an official notice warning of its licence being revoked today.
The Traffic Commissioner for Scotland today (July 29) states that Aaron's of Wick Limited has had its “licence revoked without a public inquiry”.
The Office of the Traffic Commissioner (OTC) Scotland is responsible for licensing and regulating the activities of goods vehicle operators, bus and coach operators, and the registration of local bus services.
In its notices and proceedings for Scotland published today (July 29), the OTC states that Aaron's of Wick Ltd (director Richard Wilson) has had its licence revoked and that “registered bus services running under this licence have also been revoked with immediate effect”.
The company previously had changes enforced on its operating licence after a public inquiry late last year.
The hearing in front of the traffic commissioner in Inverness resulted in the licence for Aaron's of Wick being curtailed from 15 vehicles to 10 vehicles. It stated: “Licence curtailed from 15 vehicles to 10 vehicles with effect from 13/11/2023. Undertakings added to the licence.”
The inquiry did not make clear the reasons behind the changes. The company also provides services on behalf of Highland Council in some parts of Caithness.
When asked how this would affect the company Aaron’s stated today that “we are still operating as normal”.
Highland Council was asked to comment but no reply has been received.
