Three Castletown brothers are set to raise funds for charity by taking on a gruelling 10-mile night race while dressed as Power Rangers.

Colin (28), Chris (26) and Michael Stone (23) will compete in the annual Mighty Deerstalker in the Borders on Saturday, March 14.

The siblings have previously completed the exhausting challenge as Smurfs and ran in last year’s event as Captain America, Mr Incredible and Wonder Woman.

The Mighty Deerstalker, named after the headgear which many of the 2000 participants wear, is held every March in the small town of Innerleithen.

This year’s challenge will be Colin’s 10th, Chris’s eighth and Michael’s fourth.

Chris said: "Running 10 miles up 1800 feet as soon as the sun sets is a massive challenge, whatever way you look at it.

“Usually I start regretting my decision to compete when I’m in the pitch black and up to my hips in the freezing Innerleithen river.

"It’s all for a good cause, though, and people have always given generously every year.”

The group will this year be raising money for Parkinson’s UK.

In 2013, Colin and Chris collected nearly £350 for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, in memory of Dunnet man and school friend Connor Craigie who was killed in a car crash in 2011.

Last year, over £700 was donated to the Stroke Association.

Colin said: “We’ve raised more than £6000 for charities since 2011 by running the Mighty Deerstalker, which is a phenomenal amount of money.

“We’re absolutely determined to keep that tally rising.

“Raising money to help the fight against Parkinson’s is another cause close to our hearts. We’re confident people will dig deep again.”

Joining the brothers will be a number of colleagues and friends, including their next-door neighbour in Castletown, Scott Sutherland (21).
