Four consecutive awards for Brandon
HE may be just 22 years old but Castletown's Brandon McPhee is already one of the most prolific award-winners in Caithness.
His latest prize at last week's Hot Country TV awards adds yet another trophy to his collection.
The award was presented to Brandon by Colin Watt from the Carrbridge Hotel and a coach-load of 50 local people travelled over on a Dunnett's bus to enjoy the Irish event.
"I am absolutely delighted to get this award and I'd just like to take this opportunity to thank all my fans and especially those in Caithness who have been a great support over the years," Brandon said.
Brandon was accompanied by Manson Grant on keyboards and Robert Cameron on drums at the awards ceremony.
County Cavan played host to the night of music glitz and glamour as the cream of Irish country music gathered to celebrate. Brandon joined a line-up of artistes such as Nathan Carter, Derek Ryan, Mike Denver, Cliona Hagan, Johnny Brady and the Legends of American Country.
The ninth annual Hot Country Awards saw Brandon gain his fourth consecutive win for the UK Entertainer of the Year Award.
"The award is made from Galway Crystal glass and very heavy. It's not something you'd want to have on the mantelpiece in case it got broken so it's staying in its box for the moment," he said.
Last year, Brandon won the an award at the same event for his critically acclaimed Jimmy Shand Story.
Brandon admitted he's lost count of the number of awards gained over the years.
He said: "I'm not really sure how many awards I've had but it could be close to a hundred if you add them all up."
