Snow drifts between Forsinard and Georgemas Junction could be cleared today, ScotRail hopes amid continued disruption on Far North Line

ATTEMPTS to clear snow drifts will take place later this morning, as rail engineers battle to reopen part of the Far North Line.

ScotRail has warned passengers travelling between Inverness and Wick to expect further disruption on Wednesday, with services cancelled between Ardgay and Georgemas Junction at the time of writing.

But, with milder weather helping to thaw the snow, ScotRail has confirmed that efforts will be made to clear the blockages.

A spokesman said: "Attempts will be made to clear the snow between Forsinard and Georgemas today (Wednesday), with arrangements being made for the plough to depart Inverness at around 10.30am. Successful clearing of snow from this area will then reopen the line to allow us to operate as normal."

They have urged passengers to check www.scotrail.co.uk for further updates as the day progresses.
