The 38-year-old first fell foul of the law in Riverside Road, on January 11, Wick Sheriff Court heard on Wednesday. The second occasion was in Thorfinn Terrace, three days later, and a third time, on January 25, again in Thorfinn Terrace.

He also admitted having no insurance on two of the occasions.

Sheriff Wilson told Beresford, of The Smiddy, Achnavast, Thurso: “This was a sustained course of conduct. Your solicitor will advise you about the sentencing options that are open to the court.”

Beresford will return to court on April 2 when the sheriff will consider a background report and hear mitigation before passing sentence.

The accused is disqualified meantime.
