Wick residents are reminded that the riverside mobile post office ceases operations in the town tomorrow (Wednesday, January 6) and a new fixed-base post office will open the following day on High Street.
The mobile post office has been operating at Wick's riverside car park from early November last year and will close at 3pm tomorrow with a temporary shop-based location at 125-127 High Street opening on Thursday at 11am.
Local businessman Kevin Milkins has confirmed that he will be taking on the service from January 7, initially for a period of three months, and the manager will be Sarah Bartholomew.
The opening hours will be Monday to Friday: 10am – 2pm, providing 20 hours of post office service a week.
Alternative post office branches in the area can be found in Watten, Lybster and Thurso.
David Duff, Post Office network provision lead, said: “We are delighted to be improving the opening hours of post office services in Wick, whilst we continue to look for a permanent solution.
"We want to thank postmaster Glyn Jackson for adding Wick to his mobile post office service that already provides service to many rural communities. Glyn adapted his routes to provide as much time serving the Wick community as possible.”
