An eyewitness claimed he saw police officers searching street around Coach Road and Louisburgh Street in Wick this morning (July 8) before an arrest was later made.

"I saw the riot van going round and round and police searching around bins," said the anonymous source. "It looked like they were also checking on cars down the street around the Nethercliffe Hotel."

A Police Scotland spokesperson later confirmed: “Officers were called to the Louisburgh Street area of Wick around 6.30am on Thursday, 8 July.

“A 43-year-old man was arrested in connection with road traffic offences.”
