Armed police called out for Castletown incident – man arrested

Castletown residents reported seeing armed police outside an address in the village yesterday afternoon and a man being arrested.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 4pm on Monday, 20 June, 2022, police attended a concern for person call and subsequent disturbance at an address [in] Castletown. Officers were assisted by specialist units including negotiators, a dog unit, an Operational Support Unit and a firearms team.

"There was no risk to the wider public and no one involved was injured.

"A 30-year-old man was arrested and charged and is due to appear at Wick Sheriff Court on Tuesday , 21 June, 2022. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
