The Royal Burgh of Wick Community Council (RBWCC) said it was delighted over the success of the recent open air market in the town centre and looks forward to further developing the initiative.

RBWCC vice chair Allan Farquhar said in a Facebook post about the April 30 market: "Hi folks, good news all round, lots of compliments as to how the market injected some life back in to the town on Saturday. "Despite a few call-offs due to the weather forecast of rain, a few stalwarts (no pun intended) stuck with it and made the best of the day until rain came about 2:30pm.

"Have received a good few more traders booking a pitch for next Market on 28th May so reserve your pitch as soon as possible. Market will be every Saturday at the end of the month, perhaps every two weeks if demand is there."

Mr Farquhar said that the RBWCC is now looking for interested parties to form a subcommittee of the community council to help run the market. If you are interested in helping the initiative or would like to hire a stall as a trader then contact RBWCC or Wick Community Market on their Facebook pages.
