53-year-old due in court today after conclusion of Hempriggs manhunt





A 53-year-old man is due in court today (February 5) after being arrested in connection with various offences that led to a massive manhunt last week.

A heavy police presence was witnessed on the outskirts of Wick in the Hempriggs area on Thursday (January 30) when a driver absconded after crashing into a police vehicle.

In an update issued this morning, a Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 53-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a number of offences after a police vehicle was struck by another vehicle on a road south of Wick shortly after 12pm on Thursday, 30 January, 2025.

“No-one was injured as a result of the crash.

“The man is due to appear at Wick Sheriff Court today, Wednesday, 5 February.”

At least six police cars and vans were seen conducting investigations at and around the Barns of Hempriggs Farm situated a mile south of Wick near the A99 road on Friday afternoon.

Officers were observed searching around the farm and specialist police were brought in from outside the county.
