After a successful funding bid, Highland Pride is looking for creative people in Caithness to get involved in the LGBTQ+ community event next month.

A recent successful £5000 bid from the Comic Relief LGBTQ+ Covid-19 Recovery Fund, in partnership with METRO Charity and Equality Network, will allow Highland Pride to go ahead with an online programme of events for Winter Pride 2021 in February.

Highland Pride will host a programme of online events over February 11-28, coinciding with LGBT History Month, including talks, music, workshops, book readings and more.

Jessica Taylor, Highland Pride chair, said: “We were deeply disappointed when we had to cancel Summer Pride 2020, particularly as we know how important representation and visibility of our LGBTQ+ community continues to be in the Highlands.

As the current restrictions still prevent us planning face-to-face events, and the safety of our wider community is paramount, we’ve made the decision to make Winter Pride 2021 a fully online programme of events during the last two weeks of February.

We also hope the LGBTQ+ community across the Highlands, and our neighbouring communities, will find the online programme more accessible by removing the geographical barriers faced by events usually held in person. Whether you live in Aviemore, Cromarty, Fort William, Tain, Ullapool, or Wick…this is for you.”

If you are a performer, artist, or writer who would like to take part or have an idea you’d like to pitch for Winter Pride please email info@highlandpride.org
