Thurso exhibition showcasing 150-year of the Far North Line railway enjoying ‘good footfall’ say Highland organisers
Delighted organisers have reported strong interest in a special exhibition exploring the 150-year history of the Far North Line.
An exhibition of photographs and other documents detailing the route’s history and life on it opened in Thurso’s North Coast Visitor Centre on Wednesday and will run until Saturday, October 19.
The event in the High Street venue is running from 10am to 5pm each day.
The Friends of the Far North Line’s convener, Ian Budd said: “We’ve already had a lot of interest and good footfall.”
As well as pictures the event also features text “showing how the Far North Line has changed over the years, as well as general photos of features on the railway”.
It will also include “panels of the work of two prolific local photographers, Peter Moore and Niall Laybourne”, as well as from the Scottish Association for Public Transport, and a selection of photos from the Far North Line’s centenary events in 1974,
Other pieces of interest include panels from the Highland Railway Society with some historical photos, and a panel representing the newly-formed Far North Line Community Rail Partnership.
