10mph convoys for A9 at Latheron as roadworks set to begin

Temporary traffic lights and a 10mph convoy will be in place on the A9 at Latheron while improvements are made to the road.

Bear Scotland will carry out what it calls essential surfacing improvements on the trunk road north of the village, close to the junction with the A99.

Works will begin on Monday, March 3, and will take place over 11 days from 7am to 7pm. No work will be carried out at the weekend.

To ensure the safety of the workforce and public, temporary traffic signals with a 10mph convoy system will be in place during these hours.

Working on behalf of Transport Scotland, Bear Scotland says the project will make the road more durable and resilient against inclement weather, and will provide a safer and smoother surface for motorists.

Ian Stewart, Bear Scotland’s north-west representative, said: “These planned maintenance works on the A9 at Latheron will help address existing defects and greatly improve the overall quality of the surface for road users.

“The 10mph convoy is essential to ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists and we thank the local community and road users for their patience while we complete the works.”

The resurfacing is expected to be complete by Tuesday, March 18.
