£100 reward for return of boy’s missing cockerel
A £100 reward has been offered for any information which leads to the safe return of a missing cockerel belonging to a 10-year-old boy.
John Cormack, of agricultural engineering firm JT Cormack, is willing to offer the reward to anyone who can help find the buff Plymouth Rock cockerel owned by Alistair McCarthy, of Seafield View, Mey.
It went missing at the Canisbay Show last Saturday when Alistair was exhibiting it at the poultry tent.
The incident has left the boy heartbroken according to his father, Sandy, who said it has put him off ever exhibiting any of his livestock at agricultural shows again.
Mr Cormack, who has worked with the family in the past, was horrified to hear what had happened and wants to make sure Alistair gets the bird back safe.
"I heard that Alistair was left extremely upset by what happened and I wanted to do something to help," he said.
"If someone can help us find out who took his bird we would like to hear from them."
Alistair’s mother, Tracy, said her son is still extremely upset by what happened and they are not holding out much hope for its return.
