CAITHNESS RFC's anticipated BT Caledonia Shield quarter final tie against Harris FP was called off after the Dundee side were unable to send a team to Thurso.

Although not confirmed, it is expected Caithness will receive an automatic bye into the semi final as was the case with teams in the first round whose opponents did not turn up.

Two teams  have guaranteed their place in the semi finals with Alloa, who are second in BT Caledonia One and expected to be Caithness' main rivals for the shield, beat Midlands Division Two side Blairgowrie 42-24.

Aberdeen Wanderers, who beat Caithness on the opening day of the league season are also in the last four after beating Inverurie outfit Garioch 50-5.

Grangemouth Stags are also waiting to hear if they will get a bye into the last four after Stonehaven opponents Mackie FP were unable to raise a team.
