THE death of a Thurso fisherman at sea has produced an outpouring of grief and tributes from his friends and family.
Mark Elder died after falling overboard from the North Star on Monday evening and though his colleagues fought to save his life they were unable to revive him.
The 26-year-oldwas shooting lines of creels off Cape Wrath when he plunged into the Pentland Firth from the Scrabster-based crab boat.
As an investigation continue into the circumstances that led to the accident, friends have spoken about the “shy guy” who liked “a good laugh”.
William Calder jnr, whose company Scrabster Seafoods owns The North Star, said: “This is a difficult time for everybody and our condolescences and thoughts are with the family.”Full story in Friday's Groat.
