A MAN is in a serious condition after he ended up in Wick harbour this morning.
Emergency servives rushed to the port after a car was reported to have plunged off the old dry dock area.
The man appears to have got himself out of the water and climbed a ladder before being discovered lying on the quayside suffering from hypothermia.
After he was taken by ambulance to Caithness General Hospital, police cordoned off the pier.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “A man has been rescued from the water and taken to Caithness General Hospital for treatment. He is currently described as being in a serious condition. The public is thanked for their understanding while emergency services respond to the incident.”
