Kayakers to take part in beach clean up

VOLUNTEERS are being sought to help carry out a beach clean at Dunnet as part of a national initiative which takes place with the help of two kayakers who are rowing around the UK coastline.

The event is part of the Around Britain 4 Britain charity challenge which sees Lee Pooley and Nick Arding circumnavigate the UK mainland by Kayak.

The duo are raising money for CLIC Sargent and Marine Conservation Society, and completing 16 beach cleans around the UK on their way.

Highland Council countryside rangers are looking for some help with their beach clean at Dunnet Beach tomorrow night (Wednesday).

Countryside Ranger Paul Castle said it would be a great event with lots of benefits for those who take part.

“Firstly, it will clean Dunnet beach which helps to ensure that both people and wildlife can use the environment safely.

“Secondly, the beach clean will help the Marine Conservation Society gather important information about beach litter.

“Last but not certainly least, it should be great fun for everyone who attends.”

Volunteers are asked to meet at the Seadrift Centre at 5pm where bags, gloves and equipment will be provided.
