COMMUNITY groups are celebrating receiving almost £100,000 in grants in the first round of awards from the E.ON Camster Community Fund.

Groups in the Latheron, Lybster and Clyth; Watten, and Tannach and District Community Council areas have received the grants from the fund which launched in May of this year.

They include the Newton Hill Woodland, the Clyth Community Association and the Watten Improvement Group.

Foundation Scotland has been appointed by the wind farm operator E.ON to administer the community fund which is expected to distribute around £150,000 per annum for the operating lifetime of the wind farm, likely to be 25 years.
