Astronaut in far north as science festival blasts off

THE Caithness International Science Festival will be formally launched on Tuesday with another attractive programme lined up to delight, surprise and inspire budding scientists.

Among the many things enthusiasts can expect are snakes, tarantulas, gorillas, engineering, wildlife adventures, elements, programming, environments, electrics, K’NEX and storytelling.

The 16th annual festival is the biggest to date and features the return of a special visitor from the stars returning to "ground control".

NASA astronaut Duane ‘Digger’ Carey is an inspirational speaker and will again be visiting local schools as well as hosting two public events in Wick and Thurso.

The festival is being launched at Newton Park primary school in Wick on Tuesday at 6.30pm.
