Golspie Sutherland sack manager as North Caledonian League club start search for new boss
NORTH Caledonian League club Golspie Sutherland have confirmed they have sacked manager Mark McKernie after a disappointing start to the campaign.
It was confirmed last night that McKernie has been relieved of his duties following a 5-0 home defeat to Halkirk United yesterday afternoon.
The defeat leaves Golspie in 10th place with two wins and four defeats from six games.
The club released a statement last night which said: "Golspie Sutherland FC this evening have decided to relieve their manager from his managerial duties.
"The club wish Mark all the best going forward.
"GSFC will now scourer the North of Scotland for a manager who can take the club to a position, where we are competing for honours on a regular basis."
He led Golspie Sutherland to sixth place in the North Caledonian League last season and this season guided the club to a 2-1 win at Hawick Royal Albert in the second preliminary round of the Scottish Cup.
They also took Highland League club Forres Mechanics to a penalty shoot-out in the Scottish Cup first round before going out of the tournament.
