A wet start to the day failed to dampen the enthusiasm of the drivers for the second race day of the season at the Littleferry circuit near Golspie, with four Caithness drivers across three classes present.

Andrew Sutherland from Thurso set the early pace to lead the Honda Cadet GX200 class until lap seven when an unfortunate incident with a back marker forced him wide and off the circuit. He recovered well to secure second in class.

Rotax Micromax driver Jack Elder from Dunbeath secured second in class, having kept the pressure on his opponent to move up from P3 on lap six. Finlay Calder from Thurso continued to improve, finishing third, having followed Jack’s lead on lap six to move up a position.

Ian Campbell from Watten took second in the Rotax Intermax class, losing out on top spot by 0.08 seconds after a thrilling 10-minute final of bumper-to-bumper racing.

May 25 and 26 will see North of Scotland Kart Club host round two of the Scottish Super Series which is sure to attract a large entry with competitors from all over Scotland in attendance.

This Saturday (May 4) the club will host a car track day from 9am until 4pm.
