Wick Youth Club will see funding from Highland Council scrapped in 2018.

FUNDING for youth clubs in Caithness from Highland Council is set to disappear after councillors agreed to make cuts to third sector groups.

Councillors passed a range of cost cutting measures which will see funding to Thurso Youth Club and Wick Youth Club end in 2018.

A special meeting took place in Inverness on Friday to discuss if alternative cuts could be made to prevent a number of voluntary groups across the Highlands losing funding.

However, councillors passed the measures which will see funding reduced for both youth clubs in 2017 from £12,790 to £7461 before disappearing completely in 2018.

Lyth Arts Centre will also see funding from Highland Council end in 2018 as part of the cuts.
