Coran Sutherland (10), from Harbour Quay, and his friends eight-year-old Eve MacDonald (8), of South Road, and Fiona Steven (10), of Thurso Road, were asked backstage last Saturday night, accompanied by Eve's mother, Jacqueline MacDonald. For 15 minutes the trio chatted and joked with winner Joe McElderry, Olly Murs, John and Edward - also known as Jedward - Stacey Soloman, Danyl Johnson, Jamie Archer, Lucie Jones and Lloyd Daniels at the city's exhibition and conference centre. "We were in a group along with the performers in a corridor at the back of the stage for 10 to 15 minutes," Mrs MacDonald told the Caithness Courier. "The stars were absolutely lovely and had a lot of time for the children. "They were all so nice. They all appreciated the interest from the children, especially overall winner Joe McElderry. "Stacey and the rest laughed at an impersonation of her by my daughter, Eve," she said.
The group had the chance to take plenty of photographs of the memorable occasion and the children were given cans of juice by John and Edward. The youngsters from Wick were among a party of eight attending the weekend's X-Factor concert. Mrs MacDonald said the three with her were just sitting in the right place for event security to quietly ask if they would like to go backstage. Coran has also managed to rub shoulders with another singing sensation. He met Susan Boyle at a Britain's Got Talent event last year. |
