MY g-g-grandmother Elizabeth Campbell emigrated to Australia on the Hornet in 1854 with her brother Robert and possibly a cousin Janet McLeod.

This was under the Scottish and Island Emigration Scheme and they emigrated with over 43 other families from Caithness and Sutherland. I am trying to trace more information on the society and voyage and also any descendants of my family who may live in the area. Elizabeth's brother William and sisters Barbara and Janet also emigrated at a later date but it is believed that several children; Hugh, Jane, Louisa, David and Hughina remained in Scotland. Their parents were Colin Campbell from Melvich and Williamina Campbell from Strathy. If anyone has any information please get in touch. Thank you. Rosalie Darby rjrmdarby@gmail.com |
