The incident occurred on the second leg of the Sumburgh to Inverness, via Kirkwall, flight. The crew carried out emergency procedures and shut down the aircraft's right-hand engine. The Loganair flight was diverted to Wick where it was met on the ground by emergency services. All 13 passengers got off the plane safely. An aircraft was dispatched from Aberdeen to Wick for the passengers to continue their journey to Inverness. They were expected to be two hours behind schedule. A Loganair spokesperson said: "Loganair takes the safety of its passengers and crew very seriously and we will be carrying out a full inspection of the aircraft to determine the cause of today's incident." |
