Isobel Sutherland, who formerly lived at Forss, shaved her head in August of last year for Marie Curie Cancer Care and has been busy fundraising for the charity in memory of her father, David Sutherland, who died at home surrounded by his family.

Marie Curie nurse Pauline Jones, who cared for Mr Sutherland, was delighted to accept the cheque on the charity's behalf.

Isobel's fundraising efforts were helped by Greg Binns, Donna Sutherland, Bruce Kirk and Lizzie and Sarah Cannop.

Meanwhile, the first Great Daffodil Appeal collections are kicking off today and tomorrow in Tesco Wick and then on February 20 and 21 in Tesco Thurso.

At the cheque presentation at Hair.com in Barrock Street, Thurso, are (from left) local Marie Curie nurse Pauline Jones, hairdressing assistant Abby Mcmahon, Isobel Sutherland's daughter Donna, and Isobel, who underwent the charity head shave last year. Mario Luciani.

The charity's collectors will be out again in the two towns on March 21 for Daffodil Day.

Anyone who can spare two hours of their time to help on any of these dates is asked to contact the fundraising office on 01463 238328.
