Caithness Car Club held its annual dinner dance recently in the Park Hotel, Thurso. The club is in good shape with membership increasing and entries at events being full. The speed champion trophy, donated by Gordon Motors, went to James Brims (Thurso) driving the Pilbeam 2.8l. The road car champion trophy, donated by William Bremner Motor Engineering, was won by Bill Lambie (Halkirk) driving his 1.3l Westfield. Matthew Rae of Aberdeenshire, driving his Westfield, took the trophy for modified car champion donated by Invergordon MOT Centre, while Thurso driver Colin Calder (4.0l Gould) received the competition car champion trophy donated by Caithness Tyre Company. The newcomer of the year award, donated by Glenburgie Cars, was shared by Heather Calder (Thurso) and George Coghill Jnr (Stemster). The marshal of the year trophy, donated by MPA Engineering, went to Catriona Forsyth (Aberdeenshire), while Wick's William Bremner earned the "Oops" trophy for his spectacular double roll at the Golspie sprint in his Subaru Impreza.
In the Highland Speed Championship, James Brims won class C5, with Colin Calder in third place and Heather Calder fifth. Class C4 saw George Coghill Jnr taking top honours, with his dad George behind in second place and Stuart Brown (Thurso) fifth. Class B5 was won by Orkney-based Garry Dickson, while in class B4 Lenny Bray finished second. Graeme Bremner was the class A8 winner, with Jennifer Clyne (Wick) ending up third, and Bill Lambie was second in class A4. In the Scottish Sprint Championship, the roadcar champion title went to Graeme Bremner and the modified division was won by Garry Dickson.
