Claire Hughes, pictured with her daughter, Hannah, graduated from University College Falmouth with a BA (Hons) in Broadcasting. Claire, a former pupil of Pennyland Primary and Thurso High School, is the younger daughter of Jan and Martine Hughes, Rockwell Crescent, Thurso.

Heather Ganson graduated from the University of Aberdeen with an MA honours degree (2:1) in Psychology. Heather, a former pupil of Lybster Primary and Wick High School, is the daughter of Willie and Marjory Ganson, previously of Newlands, Lybster.

Catherine Hilton, of Wattenon, Ulbster, graduated from the Robert Gordon University with an BSc honours degree in Diagnostic Radiography. Catherine, a former pupil of Lybster Primary and Wick High, is the daughter of Eddie and Anne Hilton, Ulbster. Catherine won the Donald Graham Award for outstanding achievement for her work across the four years of the course. She is now working at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London.

Jennifer Herrick, of Sinclair Street, Thurso, graduated from the University of Abertay, Dundee, with a BSc (Hons) in Forensic Psychobiology. Jennifer is the daughter of Andrew and Hilary Herrick. She is going on to study for a PhD in Psychology at Dundee University.

Carrie Marell Gunn, daughter of Gordie and Alison Gunn, "Horizons", Hillhead, Lybster, graduated with distinction from the University of Plymouth with a Master of Research in Marine Biology. Carrie is currently employed as a molecular biology research assistant with the University of Plymouth.

Lorna Jane Gunn graduated from the University of Aberdeen with a first-class honours degree in History. Lorna is the eldest daughter of Brenda and the late Hamish Gunn, Bolton House, Lybster, and granddaughter of the late Jean and Drewie Sinclair, Wick, and Hugh and the late Joey Gunn, Lybster.

Jennifer is soon to take up a position at the Dorchester Hotel, London.

Laura Henderson graduated from Heriot-Watt University with a Master of Engineering and the Watt Club Medal. She is the eldest granddaughter of Sheila and Robbie Anderson, Staxigoe, and the eldest daughter of Susan and Kenny Henderson, Stonehaven. Laura is soon to take up a position as a process engineer with ExxonMobil in Aberdeen.

Kirsty, daughter of Iain and Jane Grant, Brilon Court, Thurso, is the granddaughter of Mary Grant and the late Dr Grant, formerly of Armadale, and Margaret Mackay and the late John Kenneth Mackay of Crask, Bettyhill.

Martha Henderson graduated from the Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, with a BSc (Hons) in Diagnostic Radiography. She is currently working as a radiographer in the Western Isles Hospital, Stornoway. Martha is the daughter of David and Ellen, Ormlie Hill, Thurso. She is the granddaughter of Mary and the late Davie Henderson, and Bella and the late Willie-John Mackay, both of Skerray.

FIONA Henderson graduated with a Bachelor of Nursing – Child Health from Napier University. Fiona is working as a neonatal nurse at the Simpson Unit in Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. Fiona is the eldest daughter of Martin and Dorian Henderson, of Lyth.

Jan Frederick de Muijnck-Hughes, son of Brian and Liesan Hughes, a former pupil of Pennyland Primary School and Thurso High, graduated with a BSc (Hons) (2:1) in Internet Computer Science from the University of St Andrews. Presently he is working at the university preparing his honours dissertation for publication. In September he will begin a two-year research master's in Computer Security at the Radboud Universiteit Nijmegen in the Netherlands.

Elayne Greene, eldest daughter of George and Christine Harper, Thurso Road, Wick, graduated from Northumbria University with a master's degree in Medical Law. Elayne previously graduated in 2004 from Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh, with a BSc in Nursing Studies, and from Napier University in 2000 as a first-level registered nurse, having been an enrolled nurse for 25 years. Elayne is at present the nursing services manager at Spire Murrayfield Hospital, Edinburgh.

She was accompanied to the graduation by her husband Steven Adamson, and parents Isobel and Harry Gunn of Reiss Lodge.
