Shirley, who lives in Halkirk with husband Martin and children Jordan and Keira, is employed by the Highland Council as a children and families social worker based in Thurso. She is the daughter of Margaret and Tom Jackson, Thurso.
Louise Conaghan graduated from The Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, with a BA in Mental Health Nursing. Louise is the daughter of Jim and Jane Conaghan, Thurso. She is a former pupil of Pennyland Primary and Thurso High School and is currently living and working in Glasgow.
Shona Campbell graduated from the University of Stirling (Highland campus) with a Bachelor of Science in Adult Nursing (with merit). Shona, a former pupil of Halkirk Primary School and Thurso High School, has taken up a post as a staff nurse in Raigmore Hospital, Inverness. She is the daughter of James and Kate Campbell and the granddaughter of Hamish and Margaret Steven, Charleston Farm, Barrock.
Christine Campbell graduated from The Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, with a BSc (Hons) in Diagnostic Radiography. She also received the Donald Graham Award for outstanding achievement in her final year for radiographic reporting. Christine is the youngest daughter of Andrew and Helen Campbell, West Watten, and attended Watten Primary School and Wick High School.
Donald Angus graduated from Durham University with a master's degree in Business Administration. He is the son of June and the late Derry Angus, Crosskirk, Forss. Donald is based in Aberdeen where he is the global business director for an oil and gas company.
Andrew Beattie graduated as Master of Pharmacy from The Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen. Andrew, a former pupil of Hillhead Primary School and Wick High School, is the son of Adrian and Dawn Beattie. He is undertaking his pre-registration year with Lloyds Pharmacy in Aberdeen.

Fiona Buchan graduated with a Bachelor of Nursing honours degree from Edinburgh University. Fiona, who will shortly take up a position as a staff nurse at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, was a pupil at Castletown Primary School and Thurso High School. She is the daughter of Neil and Elizabeth Buchan, Castletown.
Sarah-Jane Clarke graduated with a Bachelor of Science honours degree in Forensic Science from the University of Abertay Dundee. Sarah, of Scarfskerry, is a former pupil of Thurso High School and is the daughter of Joyce and Howard Clarke.
Gary Cormack graduated with a first-class honours degree in Applied Social Sciences from The Robert Gordon University. Gary, a former pupil of Castletown Primary School and Thurso High School, is the son of Lydia Coghill and Alexander Cormack, and the stepson of Donald Coghill and Linda Cormack. Gary will now pursue an MRes programme in Social Research Methods at the University of Aberdeen in September.

Jane Coll, of Dwarwick Place, Dunnet, graduated with honours in Divinity from Maryvale College, Birmingham. The degree was validated by Maynooth University and took five years by distance learning. Jane is a parishioner of St Anne's R.C. Church, Thurso.
Donna Coghill graduated from the University of Stirling with a BSc in Adult Nursing. She is now working as a staff nurse in the A&E department at Caithness General Hospital in Wick. Donna is the daughter of Danny and Jeanette Coghill, Hillhead, Wick, and is a former pupil of Hillhead Primary and Wick High schools.
Alan Burgon, eldest son of Betty and David Burgon, Aviemore, graduated from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama with a BA in Acting. Alan, formerly of High Ormlie, Thurso, is the nephew of Joan and Trevor Chadwick and Malcolm Sinclair. He is currently working with the Dundee Rep Ensemble and playing the role of the Beast in the Christmas production of Beauty and the Beast.

A former pupil of Thrumster Primary and Wick High School, Emma previously graduated with an honours degree in Communications. She is now working in Glenrothes with Fife Employment Agency Trust.
Iain Begg, eldest son of Annette and Jocky, Millbank Road, Thurso, graduated from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, BEng in Architectural Engineering (2:1). Iain, a former pupil of Thurso High School, has joined IT’S Ltd in Aberdeen as a graduate project engineer.
Deirdre Aitken, of Moray View Avenue, Staxigoe, has graduated with an HNC in Interpreting Studies – BSL (British Sign Language)/English from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh. Mrs Aitken is the first person from Caithness to complete the course and can now register as a trainee interpreter with the Scottish Association of Sign Language Interpreters. She is the co-ordinator with Caithness Deaf Care.

A former pupil of Thurso High School, Jamie lives in Killin, Stirlingshire, and is employed at Perth Royal Infirmary as a staff nurse working with the rehabilitation of the elderly.

Susan Brown (22), youngest daughter of John and Evelyn Brown, Miller Avenue, Wick, has graduated from the Law School of the University of Strathclyde with a Specialist Paralegal Studies Certificate in Property Law. Susan, a former pupil of Wick North Primary School and Wick High, works as a conveyancing paralegal with local solicitors’ firm Georgesons.
Angela Crockett (née Plowman), daughter of Sheila and the late Donald Plowman, Thurso, graduated with an Advanced Diploma in Nursing Studies (Adult) from the University of Derby. Angela is currently working in Derby City General Hospital.

Heather, of South View, Wick, is the daughter of William and Annabel Murray, Newton Row, Wick, and is project co-ordinator of the Thurso and Golspie TAG where training and guidance is provided for unemployed adults with mental health issues.
Jenna Bews graduated from the University of Stirling with a BA (Hons) in English. Jenna is the daughter of Stuart and Lena Bews, Aberdeen, and granddaughter of Vera (née Napier), who is originally from Wick, and the late Billy Bews, Kirkwall. Her great-grandparents came from Wick. Jenna is now studying Publishing at the University of Aberdeen.

Freya Barker, former pupil of Halkirk Primary School and Thurso High, graduated from Robert Gordon University with a Dipolma of Higher Education in Adult Nursing, with Distinction. Freya, from Clayock, Halkirk, is employed by Aberdeen Royal Infirmary in the cardiology ward.
Alison Brims, Brabsterdorran, has graduated from the University of Edinburgh with a 2:1 honours degree in Primary Education. Alison is a former pupil of Bower Primary and Wick High School and has begun her probationary post in Trinity Primary School, Edinburgh.
Paul Barnes graduated at Strathclyde University with a BA honours degree in Marketing. Paul is the son of Ernest and Carol, Renfrewshire, and grandson of Harry and Dorrie Barnes, Wick.
Richie Campbell, of Millbank Road, Thurso, has graduated with a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (Hons) degree from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh. Richie was the last pupil to be made dux of Miller Academy before the award was discontinued at the school.
Chris Aitken, son of Michael and Maria Aitken, has graduated from the University of Aberdeen with a BSc in Computing Science (first-class honours). Chris has won the Amazon Award for the best honours project, he was a finalist for the Scotland I.S. Award and has been nominated for the National S.E.T Award. Chris is a former pupil of Keiss Primary School and Wick High.
Alexandra Bowles graduated from the University of Strathclyde with a Master in Pharmacy (first-class honours) degree. Alexandra, a former pupil of Thurso High School, was awarded the Royal Pharmaceutical Society Branch Prize for the best overall performance in the MPharm degree course and the Anthony Macmillan Memorial Medal for the best student in the final year of the MPharm degree course. She will be undertaking her pre-registration training at Great Ormond Street Hospital, London.
Lynne Bremner, of “The Clachan”, Wick, daughter of Jasper and Elspeth Bremner, has graduated from Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, with a BSc (first-class honours) in Physiotherapy. She is the granddaughter of Jenny and the late James Bremner and Elret and the late Tommy Sutherland, Helmsdale. Lynne is currently working in Caithness General Hospital.
Craig Campbell, son of Coreen and Donald Campbell, Nicolson Street, Wick, graduated from the University of St Andrews with a master’s degree (first-class honours) in Chemistry with Medicinal Chemistry, achieving best in Chemistry and also best in the Faculty of Science. He is to return to St Andrews to begin research for his PhD in Asymmetric Organocatalysis.
Julie Adams, who teaches English at Thurso High School, graduated MEd in Advanced Professional Studies from the University of Aberdeen. She already has an MA from 1978 and is now a fully chartered teacher.
